Pretty great year in my opinion, not just because I was born either...
  • You've listened to a lot of music dude
  • seriously. that's pretty crazy.
  • 92' :

    1. Melvins - Lysol
    2. Darkthrone - A Blaze In the Northern Sky
    3. Beat Happening - You Turn Me On
    4. Ride - Going Blank Again
  • Slanted & Enchanted anyone?

also The Chonic is an absolutely monumental release in hip hop. It might be the most influential album in that genre period no?
  • in terms of west coast it's probably the most important album
  • Slanted and Enchanted
    Neurosis - Souls at Zero
    Incantation - Onward to Golgotha
    Sleep - Holy Mountain
Danzig - How the Gods Kill
    Rage Against the Machine
    Bone Machine
  • 1. Tom Waits - Bone Machine
    2. TMBG - Apollo 18
    3. AFX - SAW 85-92
    4. Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
    5. Sonic Youth - Dirty
  • oh Check Your Head definitely
  • Despite it paling in comparison to their self-titled, Sublime's 40 oz. was definitely a notable album of 92
  • My troll pick is Blind Melon's debut, which I really love despite them being kind of a despised band.
  • Speaking of troll picks, Boyz II Men released their single 'End of the Road' in 92 as well. That song is like single-handedly responsible for their 10 seconds of fame
  • Pavement and Tom Waits are an easy 1 a and 1 b for me right now.

I need to give RATM another listen, because I haven't listened to them since college and I don't know how I feel about them nowadays. Tom Morello used to be my favorite musician for like a hot minute in my late teens.

I gave REM and Aphex Twin a listen today, and enjoyed both.

I'll post an actual top 5 at the end of the month.

Rage has a certain level of 90s angst that's certainly dated, I can't help but still get into it tho

plus in the scary world of rap metal it's a bright spot
  • like Limp Bizkit
  • lol no hotdog flavored water for me, thanks.

Down Rodeo is still a great song; that I know for sure.

    1. Red House Painters - Down Colourful Hill
    2. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works
    3. Spiritualized - Laser Guided Melodies
    4. Tom Waits - Bone Machine
    5. Pete Rock & C.L Smooth - Mecca and the Soul Brother

Honourable mentions to Sonic Youth, Guided By Voices & Pavement. I love you, but '92 just wasn't meant to be.

To be honest I don't have any albums above 4 stars in 1992. May need to invest some time in listening to more of these records. Even some of my top 5 have room to grow.
  • 1. Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol. 1
    2. Dr. Dre - The Chronic
    3. Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted
    4. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
    5. Neneh Cherry - Homebrew
  • I've been slacking up until the past few days. I've heard a lot of good shit, though. A remarkably solid year.
  • 92 isn't a strong year for me. Just don't have all that much to say on the records I've heard.
  • I've listen to a bunch ONCE, due to not really going all-in on this decade earlier in the month. Pavement and Tom Waits were probably destined to be my tie for the best, and they still are, but I have a growing "loved list" for the year. Granted, some would likely fall out over time and after more listens, but others would solidify, most likely, as well.
  • 92 is the year I was born so of fucking course it was an important year dummy kyle
