yeah it'd actually be pretty dope if future didn't write any of the lyrics or wasn't a part of it in any way
  • i think one thing that literally everyone can agree on is UUUuuUUUUUuuuUUUsSSEE MEEE is fucking awful.

i literally laughed a little in a "what the fuck am i listening to" way when that part came on.
  • well other than that, I don't really mind the singing on the album. I wish there were more features because I always wish Future would have more features, but I generally think it's a fun album and one of my favorite pop rap albums of late

  • @TTK yay Angles 9! Clean Feed Records is probably my favorite jazz label for new stuff. They're like the Profound Lore of jazz, some releases are stronger than others, but you're almost always guaranteed quality.
  • The new Tony Malaby is also predictably fantastic. Hell, Clean Feed has already had like four great releases this year that I've heard.
  • really didn't think the new laura marling album would be too good but it might be the best of her career lol
  • thats what I've been hearing Cordell,

I listened to Once I Was an Eagle the other day and it still is pretty incredible. I've liked the new one so far, but it needs more listens.
  • also I haven't really talked about the Angles 9 album, but it's really done a number on me.

It's explosive, raw, and ferocious ... but also weirdly catchy. Most of the tracks have very steady and head nodding rhythms, and when they have this great groove going, it's even more satisfying when they break out into messier sections, like 2:20 in Pacemaker, and then it goes straight back to the rhythm they were playing before.
Or the slow deconstruction of the title track around the 6 minute mark, they have this beautiful melody playing, and then the ground beneath the players starts to break apart, and they're left in this space where anything happens.

I mean I've enjoyed this ferocious bleeding sax type of jazz before, but it feels punchier with such a strong rhythmic section behind the blaring horns.

Really enjoyable album, a lot of passion, energy, excitement, and even a bit of fun

It's wonderful. Like you said, I like the almost rock rhythm section through most of the album that really accentuates the parts where things start to break apart and get chaotic and free.
  • Pacemaker and the title track are my favorites as well @TTK
  • Also really good closer.
