  • Your top 2 might both be Jonny since his You Were Never Really Here soundtrack comes out in a couple weeks (like a full month before the film itself comes out, which is odd)
  • Awwww shit! I might wait to see the movie first. I’m pumped to listen to it for sure. I’ve only listened to the Black Panther soundtrack before seeing the film because it’s songs.

Yeah I never listen to scores before seeing the film, I consider that tantamount to spoilers. Soundtracks are a little different I suppose (also I still haven’t listened to the Black Panther album but only 3 of its songs actually show up in the film—the SZA track, the Weeknd track, and the Vince track)

    mgmt - little dark age - 8.8/10
    jonny greenwood - phantom thread - 8.5/10
    palm - rock island - 8.2/10
    jpegmafia - veteran - 8/10
  • Edited my first post to include Jonny because I forgot, but I feel weird pairing a score up against albums for some reason, so I decided to make a separate category
  • that's fair, i feel a bit weird about it, too. but it really does work nicely on its own
  • Is that MGMT album really that good, I have never been able to get on board. I’ve listened to Oracular and Congrats and was bored to tears
  • it's their best for sure, but if nothing on those two did anything you might just not like them. which is fine. i think it's wonderful synth pop, though. sweet production, great melodies, catchy lyrics, general throwback feel while still being fresh

I used to listen to mgmt trough with my head down thru earbuds I ran thru my sleeve into my palm during detention and they’ll always be exactly that to me

mgmt brings my back to my scrobbling years on last.fm
  • @Manatee I love it. I also loved Congrats, though.

@Robby I get you. Sometimes it's hard for me to compare, while other times it makes sense. With Badalamenti's scores for Twin Peaks, it seems like an easy fit to compare the OSTs to non-film/tv-related albums. I don't know why. (Which is why his score for the new Twin Peaks was my AOTY.)
  • In love with Rejjie Snow's Dear Annie

  • Nick are you listening to folk at all this year, it's been a very fruitful year, check out I Need to Start a Garden it's fantastic
  • I would love some rec's if you have any (any more, that is)
  • I'm sure you've heard some of them Alela Diane's Cusp is great, Brandi Carlile's latest is pretty good, Park Jiha's Communion but it's really as much an ambient album as a folk one, and the Soccer Mommy is more singer/songwriter style but I love it.
