  • just quickly (about 20-45 minutes) went through my library and put these down, maybe there are more who knows.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Replica, R Plus Seven, Garden of Delete (as well as Returnal but I don't RETURN to that often. Kill me)
The New Pornographers - Together, Brill Bruisers
James Ferraro - Far Side Virtual, Night Dolls with Hairspray, SUKI GIRLZ, Skid Row
    Machinedrum - Vapor City, Room(s)
Grouper - A I A, The Man Who Died in His Boat, Ruins
Jessica Pratt - S/T, On Your Own Love Again
Tame Impala - Innerspeaker, Lonerism, Currents
    Destroyer - Kaputt, Poison Season
James Blake - Overgrown, CMYK/Klavierwerke/The Bells Sketch EPs, S/t
    Unknown Mortal Orchestra - S/T, II, Multi-Love
Angel Olsen - Half Way Home, Burn Your Fire For No Witness

also shout out to Four Tet. He's had a pretty solid discog, as well as Burial, having a rather consistent string of EPs despite no full records.
  • Yeah OPN would be the first choice for me
  • Yeah I held back from selecting OPN because I've only really listened to R Plus Seven and Garden of Delete. James Blake is a great one, and Destroyer too.
  • edited March 2016
  • I mean consistent is all well and good, but as far as important artists to progression of music this decade, I think OPN and James Ferraro are both two of the most vital.

    As well as Kendrick probably.

Also you probably have to give it to one of the trap poppers for influencing the culture in some fashion.
  • Flying Lotus, OPN, Kendrick, Panopticon for me

joanna newsom - have one on me and divers
beach house - teen dream, bloom, depression cherry, and thank your lucky stars (these range from good--TYLS--to incredible--teen dream)
sufjan stevens - age of adz and C&L

and i agree with many mentioned so far, especially hecker, burial, OPN, flying lotus, james blake, tame impala, and kendrick

I love all of the output by Arcade Fire and The National, still. Plus 99% of what you all posted.
  • Beach House, Kendrick, Julia Holter come to mind
  • arca, too
  • Touche Amore, KEN mode, Full of Hell, Deafheaven and And So I Watch You From Afar were pretty consistently great up until their last albums

i would also include nicolas jaar: space is only noise, psychic, his essential mix, and all those great nymphs EPs (along with many other good singles)
  • @shooty I will at some point, I'm just hopeless at going back and listening through artist's discographies

it's just so intense and pushes so many buttons.
  • Top 5 silent Buster Keaton movies (I haven't seen everything, but I'm working on it)

    1. The General
    2. Sherlock Jr.
    3. The Navigator (I love this movie, but the scenes with the native islanders are kinda gross)
    4. Steamboat Bill, Jr.
    5. Our Hospitality

I might call The General the most impressive film ever made if you consider the era it was made in. All of those stunts are so fucking creative and/or dangerous but also universally hilarious.
  • just look at this shit... it's 1927 so all of it is just legit and insane
  • I've sadly only seen your top two, and they're amazing films for sure.
