  • I think the more I think about it my favorite clash album is the clash.

    I love London Calling, but some of the songs come across as a little pretentious (I'm looking at you, "Jimmy Jazz")
  • I don't think London Calling is pretentious at all. It's just really expensive pop music by a band who was previously known for making rugged punk rock. I believe it's just the contrast between those two albums that makes London Calling look pretentious, but you have to look at the context of the albums.
  • you're probably right, but sometimes I feel like it ventures into different genres just for the sake of it. Prententious is too strong a word. I'll just call it a little fast and loose instead.
  • fast and loose is my general preference for anything
  • I'm not articulating this right.

    I like that the clash by the clash is a punk album. There's a purity about it.

  • I've come around a lot on Maladroit. It's got some ass songs but "Slave", "Slob", "Keep Fishin", "Dope Nose", and "Love Explosion" are all pretty damn good.

  • I really liked Art Brut at one time but I fell off around Art Brut vs Satan. I still think their first album is basically terrific.
  • Well, at least some love for AB :)

    I think people wrote them off as a one-trick pony jokesters and failed to see some depth in their lyrics.

  • I love their debut because you can still hear kyuss in their guitar and bass. Its a little sludge metaly.
